Pocket Words (“the app”) is made by Fabio Oliveira (“we”). This page explains what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it.
Account. You sign in with Google. We receive your Google account’s name, email address and profile picture URL, and we store your name and email in your player profile. We never see your Google password.
Profile choices. The language you speak, the languages you are learning, your display name, your avatar, your country, your daily goal and your notification preferences.
Gameplay. Words you find and miss, round scores, streaks, daily goals, practice results, ranked matches, achievements and leaderboard placement. This is what makes the game work: your weak words come back in practice, your streak survives a new phone, and ranked matches need both players’ scores.
Friends. Friend codes you share or scan, your friends list, and challenges you send and receive. Your display name, avatar and scores are visible to your friends and on leaderboards.
Push notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can send streak and practice reminders. You can turn these off in the app or in Android settings at any time.
Reports and feedback. Words, meanings, bugs or ideas you report, together with your account id so we can follow up.
Usage events. Basic events such as “round started” or “session length”, tied to your account id, so we can see which parts of the app are used. No advertising identifiers are attached to these events.
The app shows no advertising and sells nothing, so there is no advertising identifier and no purchase or payment data. We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, your photos or any audio recording.
Camera. Only used on the “Scan a friend” screen to read a friend’s QR code. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.
Microphone. Only used in Story Time when you choose to speak instead of type. Speech is transcribed by your device’s speech recognition service (on Android this is provided by Google) and only the resulting text is used by the app. We do not store audio.
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone else.
Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account from Profile > Delete account inside the app, which removes your profile, gameplay history, friends and push tokens right away. Anonymous aggregate statistics may remain. You can also email faoliveirawork@gmail.com to request deletion.
Pocket Words is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
